This Past Weekend Controversy Podcast
The term "woke" has been one of the most controversial terms in recent years as well as the 21st century as a whole. The entire idea of being politically correct has left many people both questioning and judging with many different remarks. With this whole rise of being woke, many have done the opposite of being politically correct and have had a strong passions for the more irreverent style of comedy that is the opposite of politically correct. One podcast that has taken more to this angle is the This Past Weekend podcast with stand up comedian, Theo Von. This podcast had sparked lots of controversy over the past few years for its politically irreverent jokes and remarks, strong bias, and many examples of mis/disinformation.
Interestingly enough, many of the bias remarks, faulty information, and problems with the media in this podcast have come from controversial stars that have been featured on the podcast. Some examples of controversial figures that have been on the podcast include Bobby Lee, Shane Gillis, Tom Segura, Joe Rogan, and Sean Strickland. Many of these stars have been criticized for their "out of pocket" remarks on the show, which has caused many sources to call out the podcast for its disinformation.
One major example where the podcast sparked controversy was when Roseanne Barr was on one of the episodes. Due to mis-informative and controversial remarks while on the show, the episode was taken down. In an article by Entertainment Weekly titled "Roseanne Barr Podcast Episode Removed for Violating YouTubes policy on hate speech", the article explains how Barr made a holocaust joke which Theo defended her for in the "sarcasm" defense. This was an example of disinformation because he crude joke cause controversy in offense to holocaust victims and survivors.
Another example of this is how popular the Theo Von podcast is. Because of all the woke-mindness of people spreading in the 21st century, many have turned to this irreverent style comedy, especially in podcasts. Because of this spread, lots of misinformation spreads. In an article by The Rolling Stones titled "Theo Von is Taking Over You're Tik Tok FYP, He'd Rather Not", the author talks about this spread of false information. Because of all the popularity and spreading, this causes a mass spread of incorrect information to be released from the podcast. This all makes the podcast image look bad from the misinformation.
Lastly, an example of other media intervening with Theos podcast is from an article written by Decider. The article, titled "Youtube Yanks Controversial Roseanne Barr podcast where she tells Theo Von "Nobody Died In The Holocaust"". This example of other media sources trying to stop Theos podcast information from being further released shows how even other media outlet sources are trying to prevent the controversy from his podcast from spreading further.
In conclusion, the This Past Weekend podcast has caused lots of controversy and mis information across the internet. Even thought the podcast is popular, that doesnt mean that there is no dis information.
